Scientology took the best 10 years of my life. There’s a featured article in the news today called “The Bridge to Ruin” – my journey to financial ruin in Scientology.

Scientologists from all of Europe are traveling to Scientology’s European headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark to climb the “Bridge to Total Freedom”. Kristeligt Dagblad is a Danish newspaper publishing articles on religious and moral topics.

Too good to be true?
If something sounds too good to be true, maybe it is. Trust your instincts and run away.

There are many people who have walked away from Scientology remaining silent. Afraid of repercussions from the church. Some hide in anger, regret and shame. I admit it has been embarrassing. But I’ve put all that behind and decided to be open about it.

Hitler brainwashed a nation
No one is manipulation proof. Manipulation makes the impossible possible. Every day we’re tricked a bit. Like when we see a commercial ending up buying stuff we didn’t even know we needed.

We know all your secrets!
In the Church of Scientology they keep archives of all your secrets. Written down or recorded. Your confessionals and interrogations with an e-meter, a lie-detector-like device, are usually recorded by hidden video cameras. In case you leave in the future, they know where to look in order to shut you up if you dare speak out about what you have witnessed.

If my story can prevent just one other person from experiencing the same, it is worth it!

Are you manipulation proof?
A person told me: “I’m not that type of person to be lured into a cult.” At first I was somewhat provoked, then happy – on the person’s behalf. It’s just a sign that the person has not been subjected to such manipulation. A very lucky person indeed!

In Scientology, the manipulation happens gradually over the years. It’s not like people are beaten at the entrance and then happily walk further into the cult. It’s much more insidious. Scientology makes sure you get enough positive outcomes that you continue to put money in the pot until the point on which the negative experiences outweigh the positives. Like the actor Jason Beghe said: The world’s best mousetrap doesn’t work without cheese.

What your donation buys – No, it’s not humanitarian aid
If the donations had gone to a good cause like helping children in need, it wouldn’t be that big deal to lose everything. When you find out people’s donations pay for expensive lawyers and private investigators to spy on and harass Scientology defectors, you get angry. The money has also gone to fund Scientology leader David Miscavige luxurious lifestyle with private jets and expensive Scotch whisky. The members have no clue.

Here I am with my favorite cult leader. I would probably look more angry if I knew I just paid for his party.

The Church of Scientology could be doing us a favor by removing itself from the face of earth.

Konstant redsel. Hvor går grensene, hva er han egentlig i stand til å finne på? Han er tross alt voldsdømt og har sittet i fengsel. Hva blir det neste?

Han fleiper ofte med at han har druknet tidligere kjærester (og svigermødre) i det bunnløse tjernet utenfor huset og deretter muret dem inne i hjørnet av kjelleren.

I hjørnet av kjelleren er det et mindre rom som er tilmuret. Jeg har stått utenfor og lurt på hva som befinner seg på innsiden. Kanskje bare et tilfluktsrom fra krigen eller noe. Enda en skremselstaktikk for å holde meg fast i sitt maktsyke spill.

Dette er et glimt inn i hverdagen min hvor jeg i over 5 år var sammen med en psykopatisk scientolog. Blander man scientologi med psykopati får det svært alvorlige konsekvenser. En dødelig cocktail med hjernevask og ondskap.

Dette er en syk mann. En mann Scientologikirken i København har gått god for og beskyttet i årevis. En mann de mente var perfekt og suksessfull. Og som de håpet de kunne melke for penger og andre fordeler. Selvsagt er det meg det må være noe galt med som ikke lykkes med dette fantastiske funnet av en mann. Hvor mange ganger har jeg ikke bedt om hjelp. I stedet ble jeg straffet, truet, ydmyket og utnyttet på det groveste. Jeg har betalt min pris.

Når det ble kjent at jeg hadde funnet en ny kjæreste, Geir Isene, en som kirken har bannlyst fordi han har kritisert dem offentlig, ja, da skulle jeg bannlyses også. En av mine tidligere scientolog-venner som er ansatt i Scientologikirken kontaktet min eks-samboer like etterpå og forteller han at han skal prise seg lykkelig for at vi ikke fikk barn sammen, for nå kan de virkelig se hvilket ondt menneske jeg er som har forlatt “gruppen”. Mitt sanne ansikt har vist seg for dem.

Scientologer er så ekstreme i sin tankegang at de får selv ekstremister til å blekne.

Here’s some tools to resist the manipulation mechanism. Be prepared:

• Don’t let their comments “stick”. Let them run off of you like water off a duck’s back.
• Agree. Each time the person gives you another reason or tries to attack you, agree with them. Agree with their comment (in whole or in part), or agree with their right to an opinion. “I can see why you might think that…”
• Rewind/repeat. Rewind the tape, as it were, and repeat your position.
• Keep holding your position, don’t give in! If you have decided you have decided.

Kassian demonstrates this by giving an everyday example:

Jane: “Would you like to baby-sit tonight?”
Karen: “No. I am tired and want to spend a quiet evening at home tonight.”
Jane: “The kids sure enjoy having you as a babysitter.”
Karen: “That’s great! But I just want to relax at home tonight.”
Jane: “I don’t know if I can find another sitter on such short notice.”
Karen: “That may be, but I just want to spend a quiet evening at home tonight.”
Jane: (getting agitated) “I really need to get out! Don’t you care?”
Karen: “I can see that you want to go out tonight and I do care, but I am tired and want to spend a quiet evening at home.”
Jane: “Some friend you are!”
Karen: “I can see how you might feel irritated with me, but I just want to spend a quiet evening at home tonight.” “Ask me again some other time.”

Scientology’s skillful manipulation
When it comes to cults and other deceiving and manipulating groups or individuals, sociopaths, etc. you are pushed to the extreme. These cults, especially the Church of Scientology is highly trained and extremely skilled in deceiving its parishioners. Being strong and intelligent is not enough to defend yourself against them. They have the tools to get you and make you give in – whatever it takes.

I was in Scientology for 10 years so I know how devastating their methods are. Part of those years I was in a relationship with a sociopath from the same cult. I was lied to, deceived, manipulated and abused weekly for years. By being coerced to do things that are against your integrity can and will ruin your life, your belief in yourself and your self-respect. I had no clue what I entered into when I started my Scientology journey and what harmful effects it had on my life.

The article will come fully equipped with graphs and numbers impossible to explain away. Another proof of how the church is lying and deceiving their members to extort them for money. Soon freshly pressed on the fringes of the Internet*.

If you got ears and eyes and still glorifying the Church of Scientology, you have a responsibility to examine both sides. What if the ugly scenes presented by bitter defrocked apostates* are actually true?

If you continue to support the Church of Scientology, you also support human rights violations and Scientology prison camps. Be responsible, get educated, find out what is going on behind the razor* (see foot note description) fences of Scientology.

A side note to Scientologists that are afraid of losing their eternity: You can still do all Scientology courses and auditing, the entire bridge up to OT 8, outside the church if you still believe Scientology is the only stairway to heaven. There are more auditors outside the church than inside. You can get pure and standard Scientology if that is what you want.

SCIENTOLOGY PRISON CAMPS

These are the three main Scientology prison camps (links to Wikipedia articles):

1. The Hole (Scientology International Headquarters / Gold Base / Int Base)
2. The Freewinds (Scientology Cruise Ship in the Caribbean)
3. The CST (Church of Spiritual Technology)

Scientologists have reportedly been confined within these prison camps for months or sometimes years.

1. THE HOLE – A PRISON CAMP INSIDE THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTOLOGY HEADQUARTERS IN HEMET, CALIFORNIA

Debbie Cook, the Captain of Flag was tortured in the Hole

David Miscavige ordered a staffer to smack Debbie Cook, who did, knocking Debbie to the floor, and another to break her finger while she was at the Church’s International Headquarters in 2007.

“We were made to do these confessions…one time in front of 100 people, yelling at you. I was put in a trash can, cold water poured over me, slapped. One time it went on for 12 hours…There were times I was accused of being a homosexual, a lesbian…”

Debbie Cook sent out an e-mail to 12,000 Scientologists warning them of the abuses, extortion and misapplication of the Scientology philosophy.

The Hole had razor fences as well, but removed the spikes recently for PR reasons. They still have motions detectors and cameras.

Tanya Castle was David Miscavige’s personal secretary for 13 years. She managed to escape the International Headquarters and rejoined her husband.

2. THE FREEWINDS – A SCIENTOLOGY CRUISE SHIP OR PRISON CAMP?

The Church of Scientology are drugging and beating their staff, and at the same time preaching Human Rights and Anti-Drug campaigns. Scott Campbell was drugged and held prisoner aboard the Freewinds.

Australian resident Valeska Paris Guider was held against her will on the Scientology cruise ship Freewinds for 6 years when she was 17 and made to do hard labor.

3. THE CST – A PRISON CAMP INSIDE THE CHURCH OF SPIRITUAL TECHNOLOGY (L. RON HUBBARD LIBRARY, THE OWNER OF ALL THE COPYRIGHTS.)

Shelly Miscavige, the wife of church’s leader David Miscavige, is living and working at Scientology’s super-secret CST headquarters near Lake Arrowhead in the mountains above Los Angeles. She has not been seen in public since 2007.

*) These fences are sharper than razors. A friend of mine, who used to work at the Int Base, just corrected me.

Inspired by a post over at Tony Ortega’s blog, where he asked his readers two questions:

1. We’d like to hear about those first stirrings that convinced you that something about the church didn’t seem right.
2. What was it that ultimately led you to walk away from an organization that lays on heavy layers of conditioning and control?

I thought about it for a minute, and shared my answers over there. I’ve posted my thoughts here as well:

First red flag: In January of 2003, I was a Veterinarian student, totally new to Scientology, I was called into a room with two Sea Org members [Scientology Monks] at the European headquarter in Copenhagen, Denmark. They wanted me to sign a billion year contract. Behind closed doors for hours until 3 AM on a weekday, I was coerced into accepting that my university science studies of 5 years were worth nothing compared to studying Scientology. I had two adorable dogs at that time, they told me to give them away. NO f…… WAY! They continued their shit until I broke down crying. I though those two guys were insane. Much later I found out the insanity was everywhere.

Ultimate shit: In the end of 2011 I couldn’t take it anymore. I had witnessed, with my own two eyes, REAL CRIMES committed by the Church of Scientology and by individual Scientologists, crimes that can put people behind bars. I had to get out of the madhouse. I’ve been an OSA volunteer in the past. I was called in to sign a waiver / confidentiality agreement, on several occasions. Today, I guess OSA deeply regrets they didn’t manage to get my signature on any such gag order. I will put ALL THE CARDS on the table, one by one, face up. Fucking people over will backfire. My official warning to OSA: Scientology: “She is a criminal!”

I left the Church of Scientology officially in November of 2012, when I met my soul mate, Geir Isene, and we announced our relationship on Facebook.

Operation Freakout

Attempts to make people freak out is not new in the history of Scientology. In the 1960′s L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, established a deadly serious policy called Fair Game. And since the 1970′s the Church of Scientology has followed a specific program called Operation Freakout, targeted to destroy Scientology critics.

In a 1967 policy titled Penalties for Lower Conditions, Hubbard wrote that opponents of the church who are “fair game” may be:

deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.

The largest infiltration in the United States’ history

To give an example of the extent Scientologists are willing to go to defend their religion, The Church of Scientology conducted the largest infiltration of the United States’ government in history, as laid out in the Operation Snow White. This project included a series of infiltrations and thefts from 136 government agencies, foreign embassies and consulates, as well as private organizations critical of Scientology, carried out by church members, in more than 30 countries and up to 5,000 covert agents. Eleven Scientology executives, including Hubbard’s own wife, who was second in command at that time, pleaded guilty or were convicted in federal court.

Scientologists are not allowed to read bad stuff about Scientology on the Internet, or to see bad news on Scientology on TV, so they have no clue about this, or other things.

This Ethics book is just a summary of the policies that form the basics of the entire Scientology justice system.

Scientologists believe that the Scientology justice system is above the laws of a country, and thus act accordingly. To understand more about the Scientology mindset, you can read my article: Scientology – The ONLY hope for Man.

Scientology and the criminal mind

Some Scientologists are working hard behind the scene to slander my name. They have told lies to my former colleagues, friends and to my ex-boyfriend. They even try to turn my family against me telling them that I am a criminal! Stupid, stupid move. You own no shame! Trying to break my family apart. You have no idea how hard this will backfire on you! If you knew, you would have been far out of the church by now.

Can the source(s) of those lies, please step forward and send me a message, so we can arrange a meeting? I would love to hear you tell it straight to my face. Cowards!

To find out what is fact and what is not, you have to look at both sides.

Hubbard wrote a reference the 15th Sept. 1981, titled The Criminal Mind, and I quote:

Definition: A criminal is one who is motivated by evil intentions and who has committed so many harmful overt acts that he considers such activities ordinary.
THE CRIMINAL ACCUSES OTHERS OF THINGS WHICH HE HIMSELF IS DOING.

If you cannot behave, outside sources will put you under justice. Just like Hubbard told you:

When the individual fails to put* in his own ethics, the group takes action against him and this is  called justice.

*) To behave morally correct and to be ethical.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

You were warned in a blog post on Geir’s blog the 8th Dec. 2012. Stop fucking with me and my family. You have obviously no clue who you are messing with.

The way out is the way out

It’s hard to understand that anyone can be part of such an insidious group, that Scientology has become. But I don’t blame you. I was in there for 10 years. I didn’t know either, how bad it was. Then I started to look. In the beginning it was just too bad to be true. You must break the spell. Get educated. You need a hug! Go hug each other, shine some love. Start acting decent.

I love to hug. You can have one too! ❤

Of course there are some good things in Scientology, or no one would be there in the first place. Like the actor Jason Beghe says in his infamous interview, after he left the church:

Even the best mouse trap does not work without cheese.

Really fresh, delicious cheese!

All Scientology courses are available outside of the church if reaching spiritual freedom is why you still hang in there. You cannot go free unless you start freeing yourself of the suppressive church that controls every aspect of your life. Please dare to look at both sides.

The way out is the way out. Make an escape today!

Some are lonely, they need you. One can learn so much spending time with the elderly. Stories from their early age, the differences between generations.

It is a fascinating time travel. I love spending time with my grandparents. That is pure quality time. They are the most lovable couple, though very different. I’m so glad I moved back to Norway, being closer to them. They are mid-seventies and young at heart. We are joking and laughing. Hard to imagine a life without them. Pause. I’m crying as I wrote that last sentence.They played and are still playing a major role in my recovery from the abuses I have experienced the past years. They will stand by my side forever.

Caring for the sick can make you stronger. I learned a lot about myself, my strengths and family bonds when spending time with my father the months before he died from cancer in January of 2012. It was grievous. Very hard to get back to everyday life after that.

Losing loved ones are devastating for human beings. But Scientology smells money.

Like I wrote in my article Scientology – The ONLY hope for Man, spending time with elderly people is considered off-purpose, a waste of time:

While you enjoy life, hang out with friends, play around with your kids, chill out on vacations, eat cake at your grandma’s birthday party, smiling and laughing – a Scientologist is on a 24-7 mission to save the planet.

For a Scientologist, trivial activities that constitute life are considered off-purpose – a waste of time, not doing what is expected.

Elderly and sick people can not move up the bridge to total freedom, the Scientology spiritual ladder of lifetime commitment. Thus they can not help save the planet. So why waste your time with them?

In Scientology, human decency has been abandoned. The caring factor is far gone.

I have seen people been taken off Scientology service because they were too old. A women mid-OT 7, the second highest spiritual level, was told: “Sorry, madame, you’ll have to wait until your next lifetime.” The church is afraid someone would die “on campus”, creating bad PR.

Ask for an advance on inheritance

I’ve seen people use their inheritance on Scientology courses. And those courses ain’t cheap. Scientology registrars, staff members that use high pressure sales tactics to make people buy Scientology services, keep an eye on people who have elderly relatives.

A staff member of AOSH EU, (Advanced Organization St. Hill, Church of Scientology of Europe), in Copenhagen, asked my mother if she could ask her parents, my grandparents, to give my mum an advance on inheritance. The money should not be used for payment of any service, just as a pure donation to the IAS (The International Association of Scientologists, a money making machine, a scam organization that spends money on private investigators to harass Scientology critics). We were both shocked. Ask your parents to get an advance on inheritance. Come on. What a RUDE question! These guys own no shame.

It is important to allow yourself to be happy during your PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Syndrome) recovery. Staying in bed, exhausted, in pain and in darkness won’t help in the long run. Getting enough sleep, eating healthy food and staying hydrated is beneficial.

Wanted Dead or Alive? Stolen dreams

I was a roadkill after leaving both the Church of Scientology and an abusive relationship.

I couldn’t be alone for more than a few hours. Living in fear. My life was a war zone. I was so scared. My pulse were like a sprinter’s when I saw the mailman. I couldn’t open mail for 4 years! Imagine. I didn’t even empty my mailbox. I jumped when my phone rang. When checking my emails, which I seldom did (now you know why you didn’t get any response from me), I held one hand on the computer screen gradually revealing one and one email to avoid a total breakdown if I accidently got a glimpse of too many “bad” emails.

If someone passing me on the street raised his voice, I started to cry. It instantly reminded me of being screamed at. I was shaky. Fragile. I struggled to regain stability.

I experienced 4–6 panic attacks a day. I was more dead than alive. Some days I closed my eyes praying that God would give me cancer and that it would be too advanced to survive when doctors found out. I wanted to just disappear. I had a hard time trying to find any reason to stay alive. I had already lost everything. Scientology had stolen my dreams and my future.

Finding true love

Before I met my love, Geir Isene, in November 2012, I had to fight this battle alone.

When inside Scientology you are not allowed to seek professional help outside the church. It was a mental prison. You have no one to talk to. Unless you pay thousands of dollars to get counseling. It took me almost 4 years to regain enough strength to leave both the Church of Scientology and an abusive relationship. When I realized I would probably die of a stroke or a heart attack if I stayed any longer, I finally managed to leave.

I’ve had lots of pain in my body. Some mornings the pain in my ankles was so severe I could hardly walk out to the bathroom. My wrist joints “burned” so much I had trouble falling asleep. Once sleeping, flash backs of painful incidents I had experienced kept haunting me. Normal painkillers couldn’t stop the pain in my joints. I had headaches every day. And migraines every second week lasting 2-4 days. My life was a nightmare!

I stayed isolated. Meeting old friends was too hard. I just wanted to be alone. People would ask me how I felt and I would start to cry.

No one is cult proof

I consider myself to be highly intelligent, strong, tough and a rebel. I could never imagine anything like this would happen to me. But it did. Mind control is powerful and destructive. When I look at the amount of abuse I suffered, both mentally and physically, it’s hard for me to understand I’m still alive.

Now, I have progressed a lot during the last six months.

PTSD Recovery

Stay focused. Don’t derail. By gradually confronting your past you will regain energy and power. Step by step, in your own pace. Don’t give up. You don’t have to fight this battle alone. What is helping me the most is reading stories of others who have experiences the same, and to share my own. Writing down my memories have helped me tremendously.

The US trip

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege to join my love, Geir Isene and his business partner, Brendan Martin to an interesting and intense trip to the US. You can see a visual summary of our trip here at Geir’s blog.

It was so beneficial to get out of the “mess” for a short while. Despite that I was pumped with antibiotics and painkillers, I enjoyed every second. I had no muscle or joint pains during this trip. What a pleasure! Mentally I felt great.

Meeting lots of amazing people and seeing amazing places. It was my first time in the US and I fell in love with this diverse country. I’ll write some blog posts detailing our trip soon.

Go visiting new places, seeing new stuff and meeting new people. It’s a great prescription!

Creating a safe island

In any recovery the most vital ingredient is to feel safe!

My dearest love, Geir Isene, has given me a safe haven. A place to cry out. A place to recover. Far away from the insanity that is practiced by the Church of Scientology.

We share unconditional love and respect. I’m forever thankful our roads crossed.

Education, intelligence, ethnicity, backgrounds etc. is out of the equation. You find all kinds of people from all walks of life in Scientology. They have ONE thing in common though: They are seekers looking for solutions.

The Church of Scientology claim they have a solution to any problem under the sun. And the target can’t say no to a QUICK FIX.
Basically, no one joins Scientology. Scientology is getting YOU – gradually.

1. The greedy & selfish

A minority group. Just a few. Often introduced to Scientology through WISE (World Institute of Scientology Enterprises) – the church’s front group which targets business owners and their employees. These folks seek tools in Scientology to improve themselves, get wealthier and more powerful. Nothing wrong with that as long as they don’t run over others in the process.

2. The “Refugees”

Another minority group. Their numbers are growing. These people have lived under suppression for years. They come from East European countries, South America, Taiwan. They’re used to follow orders and leaders. They are easy targets to join the Sea Org (a religious order of Scientology “monks” and “nuns”) and signing billion years contracts. A “free” trip and stay in a Western city, food and shelter, all inclusive. They must work hours and hours, free labor for the church, and no worries about bills. Perhaps a better and more tempting lifestyle than the one they had. And the church know how to push their buttons to make them arrive. They usually leave after a short while when they find out the promises the church gave them were only smoke and mirrors.

3. The Mother Theresas

The largest group of Scientologists consists of people with an urge to help others. They use the tools they find in Scientology to improve themselves and to serve and help others. They sacrifice their own needs for the benefit of others. They give their heart and soul. You can find these kind and caring people throughout all levels of the church’s hierarchy. This group can be easily tricked, abused, deceived and extorted. The church knows that and they take advantage of it. The church work you hard to establish trust, then they rape your soul. That is treason. That is what makes the church extremely evil.
